Prof. Lena Salaymeh worked on a book that explores the notion of 'religion' (and its offshoots) as a form of epistemic colonialism and the concept of 'tradition' as a medium of epistemic decolonisation. Using multiple case studies, the book outlines certain logics of epistemic colonialism and specific heuristics of epistemic decolonisation. Salaymeh argues that both comparison and premodern historical research are necessary to refine epistemic decolonisation and to engage in epistemic reconstruction.
